We are about to leave from our South
Carolina condo, where we have been since April 12th, to head north.
We plan to leave this upcoming Monday morning (May 9th) and hopefully, we will have better weather going north than we did coming down. If we were to move to each of the places we stayed
at on the way down and only stay the night we would, in theory, be
back to Shennecossett Yacht Club in CT in 22 days!! However, a more
reasonable time table, and about what we expect is about 30 days.
When we came down it took us 42 days!!! We were held up for about 12
days due to weather!
We do plan also to try some new places
that we missed on the way south because we were just trying to move
the boat as fast as possible for a good part of that trip. It all
really depends on the weather!
I have put together a little map
showing our route / stopping places from out trip down to Vero Beach,
FL and back these last three months. The black line shows our
southern movement and the red is our northern track.
You can see that our overnight from Charleston, SC to Fernandina Beach, FL going south accomplished the same thing as five days of travel! But the "crawling through Georgia" going north was really beautiful.
